DAY 3 – Pavacachi – Eco planet Jungle campground

• Leaving Baños to Shell- a small airport town located 60km east.
• Meeting at Shell airport with your Jungle Trip leader – a local naturalist & bilingual guide who will assume the jungle trip leadership at this point and will accompany the group from here throughout the duration of the X-treme challenge jungle expedition.
• Departing a small – 9 passengers’ plane. A one hour flight above the amazing view of the Amazon dense Jungle and the Curaray River.
• Arriving Pavacachi runway strip, deep in the rural Jungle where we will board a dugout canoe for a 30 minutes ride on the Curaray River to the Eco-Planet jungle Campground.
• The host family of Pavacachi small community will welcome the group with a short introduction and local refreshments.
• Our host family is part of the Amazonian Quichua tribe. This group allegedly moved into the rainforest at the time of the Spanish Conquest to avoid being enslaved. Their houses are built on riverbanks, and they grow crops in the relatively fertile soils left by floods. They are hunters, fruit gatherers, fishermen and gold panniers. They also have a huge knowledge of the medicinal properties of plants. They are also gifted artisans, making bags, hammocks and more from jungle plants, and the women have always been skilled potters.
• Afternoon Orientation walk and local nature exploration at the vicinity of the campground will be led by your jungle trip leader.
• Briefing of the next days of our X-treme Challenge Jungle Expeditions.
• Overnight at Eco-Planet jungle Campground.
